The Safe Cycle Flex™
Chamber flags provide an immediate visual confirmation that a duty weapon is currently unloaded, but the Safe Cycle Flex does something more. This rugged, ejectable chamber flag for police officers was designed with patrol in mind, made to effectively block the chamber of an unloaded AR-15 (.223/5.56 only) and engage the bolt's extraction and ejection features.
How Does the Safe Cycle Work?
Manufactured using durable aluminum, the Safe Cycle Flex is made to the precise specifications of the typical .223/5.56 round, meaning a duty weapon's bolt can cycle it just as it would an empty or loaded cartridge. Because of this, a fully loaded magazine can be inserted in the weapon with the Flex engaged. The chamber remains blocked, keeping the firearm completely safe while in a cruiser, bag or rack.
Since the Safe Cycle is held by the duty rifle's extractor just like any cartridge, an officer can respond to a threat without deviating from training protocols — they need only use the weapon's charging handle to eject it. The cartridge-shaped aluminum body of the Flex chamber flag smoothly cycles the bolt and exits through the ejection port, allowing the firearm to function normally and chambering a live round.
However, we designed this chamber flag for police use knowing that things may not go according to plan while in the field. That's why the Safe Cycle Flex provides a backup ejection method for peace of mind — if an officer's training fails under stress, they can just grab the durable load-bearing cord and pull to remove the Flex and charge the weapon.
